Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air is already generating buzz thanks to a new leak—and if the details are accurate, we could be looking at one of the thinnest iPhones ever made. The info comes from well-known leaker Ice Universe on X (formerly Twitter), who claims that the iPhone 17 Air will share many design elements with the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but with a big twist—its ultra-slim profile.
Thinner Than Ever Before
According to the leak, both the iPhone 17 Air and Pro Max will be nearly identical in height and width, measuring around 163mm tall and 77.6mm wide. But the Air will stand out for its slimness—it's said to be just 5.5mm thick (excluding the camera bump), compared to the Pro Max's reported 8.72mm.
Same Size Display, Sleeker Look
Both phones are rumored to come with a 6.9-inch LTPO Super Retina display and equally thin bezels, so on the front, they'll look almost the same. However, the back is where the Air might break tradition. Unlike other iPhones, it's expected to feature a single rear camera housed in a horizontal "visor-style" bump, similar to the design seen in some Google Pixel models.
Apple Wi-Fi 7 Chip Could Make an Appearance
Another interesting tidbit is that the iPhone 17 Air might include Apple's in-house Wi-Fi 7 chip, which would offer faster wireless speeds and lower latency compared to current models.
Replacing the Plus Model?
There's also talk that the iPhone 17 Air could replace the iPhone Plus variant in Apple's lineup. That would be a bold move, especially since the Air is rumored to ditch the dual-camera setup found in the regular non-Pro models in favor of a completely new design direction.
Still Just Rumors—for Now
As exciting as these leaks sound, it's worth remembering that none of this is official yet. Apple hasn't confirmed any details, and leaks can often be hit-or-miss. That said, if the iPhone 17 Air really is this sleek and different, it could mark a major shift in Apple's design language.
