Grab Introduces “Book Table” – A New Way Malaysians Can Reserve Restaurants Without Leaving the App

Dining out in Malaysia is about to get a little more convenient. Grab has rolled out a new feature called Book Table, designed for users who prefer enjoying their meals outside rather than ordering in. Instead of jumping between apps, messaging restaurants, or calling ahead, Grab now lets you secure a reservation directly within the same platform you already use for rides and food delivery.

What Exactly Is Grab's Book Table Feature?

The idea behind Book Table is wonderfully simple: make restaurant reservations as easy as ordering a meal on GrabFood.

When you open the Grab app and tap on the Dine Out section, you'll now see a curated list of restaurants that have opted into this reservation feature. From there, you can browse available dining spots, check out menus, read reviews from other Grab users, and pick a time slot that suits you. Everything happens inside one familiar interface.

It's essentially Grab's way of merging the convenience of food delivery apps with the practicality of restaurant booking platforms.

Why Grab Is Expanding Into Restaurant Reservations

According to Tan Jiong Jian, Director of Commercial and Deliveries at Grab Malaysia, this move aligns with Grab's broader mission to make everyday tasks smoother and more rewarding for customers.

In his words, Grab wants to help consumers "enhance convenience" and make dining experiences "as seamless as ordering in."

By integrating restaurant discovery, menu browsing, reviews, reservations, and loyalty rewards under one roof, Grab is positioning itself as a one-stop ecosystem for all things food—whether you're staying home or heading out.

The added bonus? Users earn GrabCoins just for making a booking, turning a simple dinner reservation into a small reward.

Currently Available in Klang Valley – With More Cities on the Way

For now, Book Table is only available at participating merchant-partners across the Klang Valley. But Grab has already hinted at a broader rollout, with plans to expand to additional cities in the coming months.

As with many Grab features, Klang Valley is often the testing ground; once the system stabilizes and partner restaurants come onboard, other regions tend to follow.

Launch Promo: Earn 150 GrabCoins for Every Successful Booking

To celebrate the launch, Grab is giving users an added incentive:
150 GrabCoins for every completed reservation made through the Dine Out tab.

It's a small but appealing reward—especially for regular Grab users, since GrabCoins can be converted into vouchers, discounts, and other perks.

It also encourages users to try the new feature, helping restaurants get foot traffic while giving customers a reason to explore new dining spots.

Why This Feature Matters for Malaysians

Dining out is a big part of Malaysian lifestyle—whether it's weekend brunches, family dinners, or spontaneous supper plans. But reservations can often be a hassle, especially during peak hours or festive seasons.

Grab's Book Table helps solve several common pain points:

It's a small feature with the potential for a big impact, especially as more restaurants join the system.
