The Day I Cashed In My Loose Change – And It Blew My Mind!

Let's be honest—most of us don't really think much about loose change. We toss it in a drawer, leave it in random places, or let it pile up in some dusty container. That's exactly what I did. For years, I had been collecting random coins, not really thinking about their actual value. They sat there in jars, cups, and even some old containers, just waiting for... well, I don't know what.

Then one day, I thought, "Why not cash these in?" I had heard about Maybank's coin deposit machine, a nifty little contraption that saves you from the pain of rolling coins and taking them to the counter. Instead of counting them manually or dumping them at a store for small purchases, I figured I'd see how much I had. So, I took my collection and headed to the nearest Maybank branch.

When I got there, I found the Maybank coin deposit machine—a simple, no-nonsense device. All I had to do was pour my coins in, let the machine do its thing, and the total amount would be automatically deposited into my bank account. No hassle, no waiting in line. Just coins in, money credited.

Now, here's where things got interesting. I had no clue how much I had saved. I expected maybe RM 50 or RM 100 at most. But as the machine counted, the numbers kept going up... and up... and up!

By the time it was done, the final amount flashed on the screen: RM 284.85!

I actually did a double take. Almost RM 300 just from coins? That's a good meal, some online shopping, or even part of a bill paid off—all from money I barely noticed I was saving. It was a weird but satisfying moment. All those times I absentmindedly threw coins into my stash, I had unknowingly built up a decent sum.

So, what's the moral of the story? Simpan duit syiling anda. Seriously. It might seem like small, insignificant amounts, but over time, they add up. The next time you get loose change, don't ignore it. Put it aside, save it up, and one day, take it to a coin machine—you might be surprised at what you've accumulated!
