Rapid KL’s RM150 Monthly Pass Is Now Available Through TNG eWallet

Commuters using Rapid KL's rail and bus services can now purchase the RM150 Rapid Monthly travel pass directly through the Touch 'n Go eWallet app, making the process more convenient for people who prefer to manage their transport payments digitally.

Previously, commuters needed to visit selected station counters to buy or renew the pass. With the new option, eligible users can complete the purchase and activation process from an NFC-capable smartphone, provided they have a compatible Touch 'n Go card or TNG charm.

The change is particularly relevant for commuters who rely heavily on public transport but are not eligible for the subsidised My50 pass.

Unlimited Travel for 30 Consecutive Days

The Rapid Monthly pass costs RM150 and provides unlimited rides for 30 consecutive days across Rapid KL's participating services.

This includes the LRT, MRT, Monorail, Sunway BRT, Rapid KL buses and MRT feeder buses. For frequent users, the pass can offer a more predictable monthly transport cost compared with paying for individual journeys daily.

Unlike My50, which is available only to Malaysian citizens, the RM150 Rapid Monthly pass is open to everyone. This makes it a useful option for foreign workers, tourists, expatriates and other non-Malaysian residents who travel regularly within the Klang Valley.

A Digital Option for Frequent Public Transport Users

The biggest benefit of the new TNG eWallet integration is convenience. Instead of queueing at station counters, commuters can purchase and activate the pass through their phones.

This may be especially helpful for people with busy schedules, those who live far from major stations or commuters who need to renew their pass quickly before the next travel period begins.

However, the pass remains considerably more expensive than My50. At RM150, it costs three times more than the subsidised RM50 monthly pass for Malaysian citizens. For non-citizens who commute almost every day, though, it may still represent better value than paying separate fares for trains and buses throughout the month.

What You Need Before Purchasing

To buy the pass through TNG eWallet, users need several things in place before starting the activation process:

The NFC requirement is important because the app needs to scan the physical card or charm during the purchase and activation process.

How to Buy the Rapid Monthly Pass Through TNG eWallet

Once everything is ready, users can follow these steps within the TNG eWallet app:

After activation, the pass will be valid for 30 consecutive days from the activation date.

Station Counter Purchase Remains Available

Not everyone has an NFC-capable smartphone or an Enhanced Touch 'n Go card. For this reason, Rapid KL will continue to offer the Rapid Monthly pass through station counters.

Commuters using the counter option will still need a Touch 'n Go card with at least RM5 stored value. This ensures that the pass remains accessible for users who may not be ready to use the eWallet-based method.

Final Thoughts

Making the RM150 Rapid Monthly pass available through TNG eWallet is a practical step towards reducing queues and simplifying public transport access in the Klang Valley.

While it is not as affordable as My50 for Malaysian citizens, the pass fills an important gap for foreign workers, tourists and long-term residents who depend on Rapid KL services. For frequent non-Malaysian commuters, the ability to buy and renew the pass digitally could make daily travel easier, faster and more predictable.
