A poster circulating online has claimed that every Malaysian aged 18 and above will receive another one-off RM100 Sumbangan Asas Rahmah payment in conjunction with National Day 2026.
However, the Ministry of Finance has denied the claim, confirming that the poster is false and that no additional nationwide RM100 SARA payment has been officially announced for this year's National Day celebration.
The clarification is important because the message closely resembles genuine government assistance distributed during previous periods. By reusing familiar programme names, payment amounts and National Day references, misleading posters can appear convincing even when their dates and claims are inaccurate.
There Is No Newly Announced National Day Payment
At the moment, there is no official announcement confirming another RM100 SARA credit for all adult Malaysians on 31 August 2026.
MOF has urged members of the public not to circulate the viral poster and to verify financial-assistance announcements through official government channels before sharing them.
The current official SARA information continues to show the RM100 SARA Untuk Semua payment that was credited on 9 February 2026. It does not list a second nationwide payment for National Day.
This distinction matters because a rumour can spread quickly once people assume it is simply a repeat of an earlier government programme.
Until MOF, the Prime Minister's Office or the official SARA portal publishes a formal announcement, Malaysians should not treat social-media posters as confirmation of new assistance.
The Viral Claim May Be Borrowing from a Real 2025 Initiative
Part of the confusion may come from the fact that the government genuinely distributed a similar RM100 payment during last year's National Day.
In July 2025, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a one-off RM100 SARA credit for every Malaysian citizen aged 18 and above. The assistance became available through recipients' MyKad beginning on 31 August 2025 and could be used until the end of that year.

That similarity makes the false 2026 claim appear believable. However, a programme implemented in 2025 does not automatically continue every National Day unless the government announces it again.
Old posters and recycled announcements are a common source of misinformation. Sometimes the original information was genuine, but the year, payment date or eligibility conditions are changed before it is reshared.
Malaysians Already Received RM100 in February 2026
The genuine nationwide SARA payment for this year was distributed much earlier.
On 9 February 2026, the government credited a one-off RM100 SARA Untuk Semua allocation to more than 22 million adult Malaysian citizens. The initiative involved RM2.2 billion and was available automatically through eligible recipients' MyKad accounts.
No separate application was required.
A household could receive more than RM100 collectively when several adult members qualified. For example, a family consisting of two parents and two children aged 18 or above could receive RM400 across their individual MyKad accounts.
This payment was separate from SARA Bulanan, which provides monthly assistance to eligible STR and eKasih recipients.
The Existing RM100 Credit Remains Available Until Year-End
Recipients who have not fully used their February allocation have not necessarily lost it.
The one-off RM100 SARA Untuk Semua credit remains valid until 31 December 2026. Eligible Malaysians can continue using any remaining balance throughout the year at participating shops and supermarkets.
The credit is not ordinary cash that can be withdrawn from an ATM or transferred into a bank account. It is a cashless allocation linked to the recipient's MyKad and intended for approved essential purchases.
Recipients can check their status and available balance through the official SARA services rather than relying on links circulated through WhatsApp, Facebook or other messaging platforms.
What Can the SARA Credit Be Used For?
The 2026 programme covers more than 140,000 eligible items across 15 approved product categories at over 13,000 participating shops and supermarkets nationwide.
Recipients select products carrying the relevant SARA label, present their MyKad at the cashier and complete the transaction using the credit linked to the card.
The government also expanded the eligible categories in 2026 to include frozen food, giving recipients more flexibility when purchasing household essentials.
The programme is designed to help with daily necessities rather than unrestricted spending. The credit therefore cannot normally be used for products outside the approved categories.
SARA Untuk Semua and SARA Bulanan Are Different
The similar names can also create confusion.
SARA Untuk Semua refers to the one-off RM100 allocation provided to all Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above on 9 February 2026.
SARA Bulanan, meanwhile, is targeted assistance credited every month to eligible recipients based on their STR and eKasih categories.
Under the monthly structure, eligible households, senior citizens and single individuals may receive different amounts. The assistance is intended to support lower- and middle-income Malaysians dealing with the rising cost of living.
Receiving the nationwide RM100 allocation does not prevent an eligible person from also receiving monthly SARA assistance.
However, neither programme confirms the viral claim of an additional RM100 payment for National Day 2026.
Why False Assistance Posters Are Dangerous
A fake aid poster may appear harmless when it merely repeats incorrect information, but these messages can quickly become part of a larger scam.
After attracting attention with the promise of government assistance, scammers may direct users to a fake registration page. Victims could then be asked to provide their MyKad number, bank details, phone number, password or one-time authentication code.
Some fraudulent messages may claim that registration must be completed urgently or that recipients need to activate the payment through an e-wallet.
Official SARA Untuk Semua assistance does not require people to register through an unofficial website, WhatsApp number, agent or third-party payment service.
MOF has repeatedly advised the public not to open suspicious links or share personal information in response to viral STR and SARA messages.
A Professional-Looking Poster Is Not Proof
Modern design tools make it easy to create a poster that looks official.
A fake graphic may contain the Malaysian flag, government colours, the SARA name, a photograph of the Prime Minister and language copied from an earlier announcement. It may even reproduce a ministry logo.
None of those elements proves that the information is genuine.
The most reliable approach is to check whether the same announcement appears on official government platforms. A major nationwide payment involving millions of recipients would be accompanied by a formal statement explaining its allocation, eligibility, payment date and usage period.
When those details exist only in a circulating image and cannot be found on official platforms, the claim should be treated with caution.
No Application Should Be Required for Nationwide SARA Credit
Previous SARA Untuk Semua payments were credited automatically to eligible MyKad holders.
During the genuine 2025 National Day rollout, MOF repeatedly reminded Malaysians that there was no application, intermediary or e-wallet registration involved.
The 2026 nationwide allocation followed the same automatic approach.
This provides a useful warning sign. A message asking people to submit a form, pay a processing fee, contact an agent or click a link to "claim" nationwide SARA assistance is highly suspicious.
Even when a payment announcement is genuine, scammers may create fake registration pages around it.
Future Increases Are Being Considered—but Nothing Has Been Finalised
There is a separate discussion about possibly increasing STR and SARA assistance in the future.
On 19 July, Anwar said the government was examining whether assistance could be increased if Malaysia's economic conditions permitted. He said the matter had been discussed with Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Johan Mahmood Merican and would be considered during preparations for the upcoming Budget.
Later in July, the Prime Minister also said the government intended to raise SARA assistance in response to continuing cost-of-living concerns. However, the exact amount, eligibility rules and implementation date had not been formally announced.
This is not the same as confirming another universal RM100 National Day payment.
A proposal, policy discussion or general statement about increasing assistance should not be converted into a specific payment claim before the government publishes the details.
How to Check Genuine SARA Information
The official SARA portal remains the primary source for checking eligibility, balances, approved product categories and participating merchants.
Recipients can also use the official MyKasih application and verified government channels for updated information.
People should avoid entering personal information into a website reached through an unsolicited message. It is safer to manually open the known official portal rather than tapping a shortened or unfamiliar link.
When an announcement appears questionable, waiting for official confirmation is better than forwarding it "just in case." Sharing an unverified message can expose relatives and friends to confusion or fraud.
What Existing Recipients Should Do
People who received the genuine RM100 allocation in February can continue spending any unused balance until 31 December 2026.
There is no need to reapply, activate the MyKad or pay anyone to access the remaining funds.
Recipients can visit a participating retailer, select approved products and present their MyKad during payment. The official programme allows purchases throughout the year, with unused balances carried forward rather than disappearing at the end of each month.
Those who have already spent the full RM100 should not expect another automatic credit for National Day based solely on the circulating poster.
Final Thoughts
MOF's clarification should put an end to the viral claim: no additional nationwide RM100 SARA payment has been officially announced for National Day 2026.
The confusion is understandable because Malaysia previously distributed a genuine RM100 SARA allocation during National Day 2025. Another nationwide payment was then credited on 9 February 2026.
However, those earlier initiatives do not confirm that a third payment will automatically follow on 31 August this year.
Eligible Malaysians can still use any balance remaining from the February 2026 allocation until the end of December. Meanwhile, the government is considering broader increases to STR and SARA assistance, but the final amount and implementation details have yet to be officially confirmed.
Until a formal announcement appears through MOF, the Prime Minister's Office or the official SARA portal, the viral National Day poster should be treated as false and should not be shared.
