MyEG And Zetrix AI Ordered To Settle RM314 Million Arrears Immediately As JPJ Suspension Takes Effect

The suspension of Road Transport Department, or JPJ, payment services through MyEG Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Bhd has now taken effect, with Transport Minister Anthony Loke directing both companies to immediately settle RM314 million in outstanding government revenue. The two firms, which operate under the MYEG Group, were previously suspended after JPJ said they had failed to fulfil obligations under their agreements. The latest disclosure provides more detail on the amount involved and the steps the government had already taken to recover the money.

According to Loke, the RM314 million consists of revenue collected by the companies but not yet transferred into the Ministry of Transport's Main Revenue Account. He clarified that the current arrears began accumulating from May 2026 rather than over the past three years. While delayed payments had occurred previously, those earlier outstanding amounts were eventually settled after reminder notices were issued.

RM314 Million Outstanding Since May

The Transport Ministry and JPJ have reportedly been pursuing the outstanding revenue since May. Loke said 35 reminder notices had already been issued to the companies in an effort to recover the money. The government also held four engagement sessions involving relevant stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance.

These actions indicate that the suspension was not imposed immediately after the first missed payment. Instead, authorities had attempted to resolve the issue through repeated reminders and discussions before taking more serious action. The current suspension therefore follows several months of unsuccessful efforts to recover the full amount.

RM231 Million Cheque Was Not Processed

A significant development occurred on 21 August, when the companies submitted a cheque dated 30 September for RM231 million. That amount was intended to cover the arrears outstanding at that point. However, when the cheque was presented for payment on 30 September, the bank did not process it following instructions from the company.

This ultimately contributed to the Ministry of Transport and JPJ deciding to suspend payment services through MyEG and Zetrix AI. The unpaid amount has since grown to RM314 million. Loke has made it clear that the government expects the entire outstanding sum to be settled rather than only a portion of it.

Suspension Will Continue Until Full Payment Is Made

Loke said the suspension will remain in place until MyEG and Zetrix AI settle the outstanding amount in full. Only after payment has been completed will the government consider whether services through the companies should be restored. This means there is currently no confirmed date for the resumption of JPJ payment services through MYEG Group channels.

The Transport Ministry and JPJ also intend to pursue legal action to recover the money owed. The government is therefore treating the issue as both an operational and financial matter rather than simply a temporary service dispute. Any future decision regarding the companies' role as payment service providers will depend on the settlement of the arrears and the government's subsequent assessment.

JPJ Services Continue Through Other Channels

Despite the suspension involving MyEG and Zetrix AI, Loke stressed that JPJ services themselves remain available. Members of the public can continue making payments and conducting relevant transactions through alternative official channels. These include the MyJPJ application, the JPJ Public Portal, physical JPJ counters and kiosks.

This should minimise disruption for users who previously depended on MYEG Group platforms for JPJ-related payments. The suspension affects the companies acting as payment channels rather than JPJ's ability to provide its services. Customers are therefore encouraged to use the department's official alternatives while the suspension remains in effect.

Special Arrangements At The Malaysia-Singapore Border

JPJ has also arranged additional facilities for non-Malaysians who need to settle traffic summonses at the Malaysia-Singapore border. Mobile counters at Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar in Johor will operate from 8am until 10pm. These counters are intended to ensure that foreign motorists can continue making payments despite the suspension of MYEG Group channels.

The extended operating hours should provide more flexibility for motorists entering or leaving Malaysia through the two major border checkpoints. By maintaining these alternative payment options, JPJ is attempting to prevent the suspension from creating unnecessary problems for cross-border travellers.

KPP01 Theory Tests Remain Available

Applicants for the KPP01 computerised driving theory test also continue to have access to alternative arrangements. The test can be taken through 85 approved driving institutes authorised to conduct KPP01 examinations. This means the suspension does not stop new applicants from proceeding with the theory test process.

The change primarily affects how certain bookings and payments are handled rather than the availability of the test itself. Applicants should therefore use the approved driving institutes and official JPJ channels for further arrangements while MYEG Group services remain suspended.

A Significant Escalation For MYEG Group

The RM314 million figure represents a major escalation from the initial suspension announcement, which broadly referred to unfulfilled or unresolved obligations. The Transport Minister's latest statement now places a specific value on the outstanding revenue and explains that the arrears date from May 2026. It also confirms that the government had issued numerous reminders and held multiple discussions before suspending the companies' payment services.

The failed processing of the RM231 million cheque appears to have been a particularly important turning point. With legal recovery action now being considered, the dispute has moved beyond routine administrative delays. The next major development will depend on whether MyEG and Zetrix AI settle the outstanding amount and how quickly that payment is completed.

Final Thoughts

MyEG and Zetrix AI are now facing direct pressure from the government to settle RM314 million in outstanding revenue collected on behalf of JPJ. Transport Minister Anthony Loke has confirmed that the current arrears accumulated from May 2026, despite 35 reminder notices, four engagement sessions and an earlier RM231 million cheque that ultimately was not processed.

For the public, JPJ services remain available through MyJPJ, the JPJ Public Portal, counters, kiosks and other authorised channels, so the suspension should not prevent essential transactions from continuing. However, MYEG Group payment services will remain suspended until the full amount is settled, after which the government will decide whether those services should be allowed to resume.
