TNG eWallet Clarifies How the 300-Litre BUDI Diesel Quota Works

The recent increase in the BUDI Diesel quota to 300 litres per month has created some confusion among pickup and jeep owners, especially for those using TNG eWallet to claim subsidised fuel. The main question is simple: if the app usually shows a shared 200-litre quota for BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel, where does the extra 100 litres appear?

TNG Digital has now clarified that eligible users will not see a separate "extra diesel quota" counter inside the app. Instead, once their additional quota application is approved, the eWallet will automatically update their total monthly quota to 300 litres.

Everyone Starts With the Standard 200-Litre Quota

Under the BUDI MADANI programme, eligible users are first given a standard 200-litre shared monthly quota. This quota applies across BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel, depending on the user's eligibility and fuel type selection.

For most users, this 200-litre figure is what appears inside the TNG eWallet app.

However, pickup and jeep owners who qualify for the additional diesel allocation need to go through a separate approval process. They must apply through the official BUDI MADANI portal before the extra 100 litres can be granted.

Once approved, the change is reflected automatically in TNG eWallet. Users do not need to manually activate another setting or use a different app.

The Extra 100 Litres Is Not Shown Separately

One important detail is that the additional 100 litres will not appear as a separate balance. The app will simply show a combined monthly quota of 300 litres for approved users.

This means users should not expect to see something like:

Instead, the app keeps the display simpler by showing one total quota.

However, based on TNG Digital's explanation, the extra allocation is expected to follow the government's intended rule. Once the first 200 litres of shared quota has been used, the remaining 100 litres should be usable only for diesel purchases.

In other words, the additional amount is meant specifically to support eligible diesel vehicle owners, not to expand general fuel usage across all fuel types.

How Refuelling Works Through TNG eWallet

For users, the actual refuelling process remains largely unchanged. There is no need to switch to a separate application or present a physical MyKad at the petrol station, as eligibility verification is handled digitally through the app.

To claim subsidised fuel through TNG eWallet, users can open the BUDI MADANI section in the app, choose the fuel type, select the petrol station and pump number, then proceed with the QR payment process.

The system works at participating petrol stations nationwide, making it easier for eligible users to manage their subsidised fuel claims from one place.

eKYC Must Be Completed First

Before using the feature, users should make sure their eKYC verification in TNG eWallet has already been completed. This is important because the app relies on digital verification to confirm eligibility.

It is also a good idea to check the remaining quota before refuelling, especially for those who actively use both BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel. Since the quota is shown as a combined figure, keeping track of usage can help avoid confusion at the pump.

What Happens to Unused Pre-Authorisation Amounts?

As with many fuel payment systems, a pre-authorisation amount may be held during the transaction. If the full amount is not used, the unused balance will be refunded automatically to the user's TNG eWallet after the refuelling transaction is completed.

This means users are only charged for the actual fuel dispensed, while the remaining amount returns to their wallet once the payment process is settled.

Final Thoughts

The 300-litre BUDI Diesel quota is meant to provide extra support for eligible pickup and jeep owners, but the way it appears in TNG eWallet may not be immediately obvious.

The key point is that approved users will see their total quota updated to 300 litres, not a separate 100-litre diesel balance. The first 200 litres remains the shared BUDI quota, while the additional 100 litres is expected to apply only to diesel once the shared allocation has been used.

For users, the most practical step is to complete eKYC, apply for the extra allocation through the BUDI MADANI portal if eligible, and check the quota balance in TNG eWallet before refuelling.
