Samsung has added two new microSD cards to its removable storage lineup, giving users more choices depending on whether they need more capacity, better speed, or a balance of both. The new cards are called the Samsung T7 and Samsung T9, and while the names sound quite close, they are clearly aimed at slightly different types of users.

Windows 11 has picked up a couple of storage-related improvements that may not sound dramatic at first, but they actually fix two long-standing frustrations that many users have quietly put up with for years. One is the sluggish performance in the Storage settings page when checking drive details, especially on larger drives. The other is Microsoft finally loosening an old FAT32 formatting restriction that never really made much sense in modern computing.

A lot of people treat hard drives like they're time capsules. Copy files, unplug, toss into a drawer, and assume everything will be fine ten years later. The problem is: hard drives aren't like paper files. They're electromechanical devices with moving parts, lubricants, and electronics that age even when they're sitting still.

Most people follow the "common sense" storage plan: SSD for speed, HDD for everything else. Apps and games go on the SSD, while photos, documents, and backups get dumped onto a big hard drive because it's cheaper and has more space.

Kioxia has officially unveiled the BG7 series, its latest lineup of low-cost M.2 NVMe SSDs aimed squarely at mainstream and value-focused PCs. Arriving roughly two and a half years after the BG6 generation, the BG7 continues Kioxia's strategy of supplying affordable solid-state storage primarily for OEM systems rather than retail consumers.
