Travelling between Johor and Singapore is getting a small but meaningful upgrade. From 4 May 2026, Malaysia and Singapore will enhance their cross-border taxi arrangement, giving passengers more flexibility while still keeping the service within a regulated framework. The update follows coordination between Singapore's Ministry of Transport, Malaysia's Ministry of Transport, Singapore's Land Transport Authority, and Malaysia's Land Public Transport Agency, APAD.

After a few months of uncertainty, inDrive has officially been cleared to continue operating in Malaysia. The approval comes from the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) following the completion of a mandatory three-month licensing review, a process that placed the e-hailing company under close regulatory scrutiny.

Travelling between Malaysia and Singapore just got easier. Kummute, the mobility platform best known for its ride-pooling services Kumpool and Kumride, has rolled out a brand-new feature on its app: a licensed cross-border taxi booking service.

It looks like Southeast Asia's ride-hailing and delivery giants might finally be getting closer to a merger—or at least, the conversation is heating up again. According to sources familiar with the situation, Grab Holdings Ltd has begun due diligence on Indonesian tech rival GoTo Group, signaling that the Singapore-based company is seriously considering an acquisition.

A recent report by EconWorks, a local economic consultancy, highlights the significant impact of Grab's services on Malaysia's economy. In 2023 alone, Grab contributed RM9.9 billion, accounting for approximately 0.5% of the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
