The ASUS Ascent QN10 is an interesting new entry in the compact desktop market because it marks one of the first major mini-PC designs to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 platform. Until now, Snapdragon X chips have mostly been associated with laptops, especially thin and light Windows machines focused on battery efficiency, AI performance, and always-connected style productivity. With the Ascent QN10, Qualcomm and ASUS are now showing that the same type of platform can also work in a small desktop form factor.

ASUS has introduced the ROG NUC 16, a refreshed compact gaming PC that pushes the idea of a small-form-factor desktop much further than before. While mini PCs are often associated with basic office work, media playback, or lightweight gaming, the ROG NUC line has always aimed at something more ambitious. The new ROG NUC 16 continues that direction by packing high-end mobile-class gaming hardware into a chassis that is still much smaller than a traditional gaming desktop.

Microsoft's newer native NVMe path is starting to look like a much bigger deal than a routine driver update. Fresh benchmark coverage from StorageReview shows that the redesigned storage stack in Windows Server 2025 can deliver major gains in random-read performance, noticeable latency improvements in some workloads, and lower CPU usage during sequential transfers. Microsoft has framed the change as a move away from treating modern NVMe storage like older SCSI-style devices, which helps explain why the gains can be so significant on fast SSDs.
