Qualcomm is expanding its laptop chip strategy with a new processor platform aimed at a very different part of the market. While the company is often associated with flagship Snapdragon chips for premium smartphones, and more recently with its Snapdragon X series for Windows laptops, its latest announcement is focused on entry-level computing.

Qualcomm has introduced two new mobile chipsets aimed at making affordable smartphones feel faster, smoother, and more capable. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is designed for upper midrange devices, while the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 targets entry-level and budget-friendly phones. On paper, both platforms are not just routine yearly updates. They represent Qualcomm's continued push to bring features once associated with higher-end smartphones into more accessible price segments.

In a new support document released on October 22, the company confirmed that seeing duplicate or oddly labeled drivers in Windows Update is perfectly normal.
