Grab users in Malaysia have had quite a few changes to get used to since the platform rebranded its loyalty programme from GrabRewards to GrabCoins. On the surface, it may have looked like a simple name change, but in reality, it signaled a broader shift in how users earn and redeem rewards across the app. The idea is fairly straightforward: use Grab for the services you already rely on, collect GrabCoins along the way, and then use those points to cut down the cost of future orders, rides, and purchases.

Grab is once again shaking things up in the food delivery space—this time with a new option called Tumpang Saver. If the name sounds unfamiliar, that's because it's a localized version of the Shared Saver delivery model the company revealed just last month. The feature has now quietly entered testing in Malaysia, specifically in the Klang Valley area.

A recent report by EconWorks, a local economic consultancy, highlights the significant impact of Grab's services on Malaysia's economy. In 2023 alone, Grab contributed RM9.9 billion, accounting for approximately 0.5% of the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
