The government has finally stepped in with a plan that could change that for good.

Malaysia is stepping up its investments in space-based communication technologies, with a focus on Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite deployment, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. This move aims to make satellite connectivity a core driver of national development, particularly in digital transformation, industrial expansion, and economic progress.

This strategic move is set to dramatically improve regional data centre connectivity and solidify Mah Sing's position as a serious player in the digital infrastructure scene. 

Google has announced a $2 billion (RM9.5 billion) investment to develop its first data center and cloud region in Malaysia, marking a significant milestone in the country's digital transformation. The facility will be located in Sime Darby Property's Elmina Business Park, Greater Kuala Lumpur, and is aimed at meeting the growing demand for cloud services and AI-driven solutions.

 Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld Malaysia) has once again sealed a major land deal with Microsoft, selling 138.532 acres of industrial land within its Eco Business Park I development in Iskandar Malaysia, Johor for RM693.96 million in cash. This follows a previous sale in June last year, when EcoWorld Malaysia sold 123.141 acres of land in Eco Business Park VI to Microsoft for RM402.3 million to support the development of a hyperscale data centre.
