If you're the type who only opens MyJPJ when there's a roadblock or when road tax renewal is due (totally normal), here's the one update you don't want to discover at the worst possible moment. JPJ has confirmed that starting 1 March 2026, MyDigital ID will become the only login method for the MyJPJ app. That means the usual "username/password" style login will be removed, and anyone who hasn't set up MyDigital ID may find themselves locked out until they do.

Malaysia's push toward a more unified digital identity system just took a noticeable step forward. MyDigital ID has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a group of banks and fintech players, with the goal of improving how identity authentication works across onboarding and everyday transactions.

Malaysia's plan to restrict social media access for users under 16 is no longer just a "we're thinking about it" idea. According to Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching, the proposal has already moved into a regulatory sandbox phase, which is basically the government's way of saying: "We're testing this in a controlled environment first before we flip the switch for everyone."

If you've been hearing "MyDigital ID" pop up more often lately, this is why: Malaysia is now running a larger Phase 2 "sandbox" (basically, a controlled test environment) to plug MyDigital ID into real banking systems. According to a written parliamentary reply by the Ministry of Finance (MOF), 18 banking institutions have confirmed they're taking part in this second phase.
