Malaysia's Road Transport Department, better known as JPJ, may be moving toward a more technology-driven approach when it comes to detecting traffic offences. Instead of depending heavily on physical roadblocks, the department could soon rely more on Automated Number Plate Recognition, or ANPR, as part of its enforcement strategy.

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has rolled out an update for its MyJPJ mobile app on both Android and iOS, bringing a refreshed interface along with a few new additions. While the update isn't a complete overhaul, it does introduce some changes aimed at making the app more accessible and easier to use.

If you've ever shown up at a JPJ office, looked at the clock, and thought "Okay, still plenty of time"… only to be told queue numbers are already finished, you're not alone.

If you're the type who only opens MyJPJ when there's a roadblock or when road tax renewal is due (totally normal), here's the one update you don't want to discover at the worst possible moment. JPJ has confirmed that starting 1 March 2026, MyDigital ID will become the only login method for the MyJPJ app. That means the usual "username/password" style login will be removed, and anyone who hasn't set up MyDigital ID may find themselves locked out until they do.
