The Malaysian government has announced a significant reprieve for small and medium enterprises (SMEs that fall within the RM1 million to RM5 million annual sales bracket. The mandatory rollout of e-invoicing, initially scheduled to take effect on 1 January, has now been postponed, offering businesses more breathing room to prepare for the transition.

A Shift Driven by Technology - The recent layoffs at Petronas have sparked nationwide attention, but according to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, this move is not the result of financial troubles. Instead, it stems from the oil and gas giant's push towards adopting new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI). As Petronas embraces digital transformation, overlapping job functions have emerged, making certain roles redundant. 

Ongoing support is crucial for women, especially those from the bottom 40% income group (B40), to thrive in e-commerce, according to Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo. He highlighted that statistics indicate significant challenges for women in this category in fully leveraging opportunities in the digital economy.​

The Malaysian government has entered into a US$250 million (RM1.11 billion) partnership with UK-based semiconductor design giant Arm Holdings plc, a move Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim described as the beginning of Malaysia's second semiconductor wave.

As Malaysia continues to depend on non-renewable energy sources like coal and natural gas, rising electricity costs will remain an unavoidable reality. With global energy market volatility and increasing supply costs, the burden on consumers and businesses will only grow, making it clear that a shift to renewable energy isn't just an option—it's a necessity.
