This project will be spearheaded by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and represents a major leap toward enhancing connectivity across the country, particularly between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and Sarawak.

The Malaysian government has made it clear — the future of the nation's digital economy lies in data sovereignty and artificial intelligence. During the tabling of Budget 2026, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced a major move: the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will spearhead the development of a Sovereign AI Cloud, backed by a substantial RM2 billion investment.
