TikTok Is Already Back Online in US

News | 20 January 2025
Less than a day after going offline, TikTok announced it is back online following assurances from President-elect Donald Trump to the company's service providers—likely Apple, Google, and Oracle—that his administration would not enforce a previously proposed ban on the app. "TikTok is currently in the process of restoring services in collaboration with our providers," the company stated. "We appreciate President Trump for offering the necessary clarity and assurance, ensuring our providers won't face penalties for delivering TikTok to over 170 million Americans and supporting more than 7 million small businesses. This marks a significant step in defending the First Amendment and opposing unwarranted censorship. We look forward to working with President Trump on a long-term strategy to keep TikTok operational in the U.S."

"Always Somewhere" by Scorpions is one of those timeless rock ballads that never fails to strike an emotional chord. With its soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics, it's a song that truly resonates with music lovers across generations. Anwar Urges Malaysians Abroad not to Downplay the Country's Technological Progress and Talent

News | 20 January 2025
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged Malaysians living abroad not to underestimate the technological progress, expertise, and talent present in their home country. He highlighted that Malaysia continues to earn global recognition for its technological capabilities, with many international investors choosing to reinvest after years of successful business operations in the country. Anwar cited Infineon Technologies AG, Germany's leading semiconductor manufacturer, as an example. The company recently invested an additional six billion euros, acknowledging Malaysia's expertise, technology, and talent as being on par with Germany. He made these remarks in response to a question during a gathering with over 700 members of the Malaysian diaspora on Friday.

Upgraded my CPU Cooler to Deepcool LT520

Tech Gadgets | 20 January 2025
I upgraded to the Deepcool LT520 in January 2024, replacing my old XPSC Raystorm cooler, which had served me well for several years. Unfortunately, the pump on the Raystorm had gone faulty, and after considering the costs and effort involved in replacing it, I realized it wasn't worth the hassle. Instead of dealing with the complexities of a custom loop again, I decided to switch to an AIO cooler for a more straightforward, low-maintenance solution. The LT520 stood out as an excellent choice due to its balance of performance, aesthetics, and ease of installation, making the transition from my custom water-cooling setup much smoother than expected.

Seven Nation Army Guitar Cover

Guitar Covers | 20 January 2025
I took the iconic "Seven Nation Army" by The White Stripes and gave it a fresh twist by translating the vocal melody onto my Fender Stratocaster. This creative approach not only showcases my technical skill but also highlights the versatility of the Strat's signature tone. From the deep, brooding intro riff to the powerful chorus, my cover breathes new life into the song, proving that a well-played guitar can sing just as effectively as a human voice. The Strat's bright, punchy sound perfectly captures the essence of the original track while adding my unique touch, making it an engaging listening experience for fans of both classic rock and guitar-driven music.

How DMARC Works?

Cybersecurity | 19 January 2025
Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance (DMARC) is an email authentication protocol designed to protect domain owners from email spoofing and phishing attacks. It builds on two existing standards, SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail), to provide domain owners with the ability to specify how unauthenticated emails should be handled. DMARC also provides reporting capabilities that allow domain owners to monitor email traffic and take appropriate action against unauthorized email use.

Changing Default Windows RDP Port

Cybersecurity | 17 January 2025
Changing the default Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) port on Windows is a critical step in enhancing the security of your system. By default, RDP listens on port 3389, which is widely known and targeted by malicious actors. Automated bots and hackers continuously scan networks for open default ports like this, looking for vulnerable systems to exploit. Altering the default port creates an additional layer of security, making it significantly harder for attackers to locate and target your RDP service.

How Windows 10 & 11 Prioritize Startup Sequence

Technical Solutions | 16 January 2025
Windows 10 and 11 optimize the startup sequence to ensure a balance between performance and usability, leveraging a combination of software and hardware advancements. Both operating systems use a prioritized approach to load essential system processes, services, and user applications efficiently. They utilize the Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) for faster initialization of hardware components, while Fast Startup, a hybrid of shutdown and hibernation, allows quicker boot times by saving a system state to disk. Additionally, Windows employs a feature called Startup Impact Assessment, which categorizes applications into "High," "Medium," or "Low" impact to delay non-critical processes until after the desktop is usable. Tools like Task Manager and Startup Settings let users control which programs launch at boot, helping to streamline performance further. These mechanisms collectively ensure that the system is ready for use quickly while preserving user control over startup priorities.

CrateDB's Capability to Operate in Real-time Within Time-Critical Environments

Web Development | 16 January 2025
Despite significant advancements in the speed and capacity of modern computers over the past 20 years, there is often still a noticeable delay between importing data and being able to act on the processed and queried results. For instance, it's not uncommon for batch processes querying large datasets to be queued, sometimes running overnight in extreme cases. While such delays may not be a major issue in scenarios like business intelligence gathering, in many other contexts, the time lag between data entering a database and initiating action based on its processing can be crucial.
