Malaysia's digital banking landscape has just taken a major leap forward with the official debut of Ryt Bank, a joint venture by YTL Group and Sea Limited. What makes it stand out? It's the first AI-powered digital bank in the country, putting its always-on assistant, Ryt AI, at the centre of the customer experience.
Banking with an AI Assistant
Unlike traditional digital banks that rely on menus and manual navigation, Ryt Bank introduces a conversational interface. Customers can interact with Ryt AI in English, Bahasa Malaysia, and even Manglish, making it more approachable for everyday Malaysians.
The assistant isn't just for answering questions — it can also handle real tasks such as transferring funds, paying bills, or checking balances, all through a simple chat-like conversation. This design marks a shift towards a more natural and user-friendly way of banking.
Competitive Rates and Lifestyle Benefits
Ryt Bank isn't just about AI convenience. The platform offers an interest rate of up to 4% per annum, credited daily to user accounts. On top of that, customers can apply for the Visa-powered Ryt Card, which comes with 1.2% unlimited cashback on overseas spending.
Another highlight is Ryt PayLater, the bank's own Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) service. Eligible users can activate it instantly without submitting documents, enjoying a credit limit of RM1,499 and 0% interest for the first month.
Security and Trust
For Malaysians concerned about safety, Ryt Bank is licensed by Bank Negara Malaysia and deposits are protected under PIDM up to RM250,000 per depositor. Security measures include biometric login, multi-layer encryption, and real-time fraud alerts, giving users added peace of mind.
Perks for New Customers
To mark its launch, Ryt Bank is offering some attractive perks. Customers who try out transactions with Ryt AI can earn up to RM5 in rewards. Additionally, early adopters can get their Ryt Card free of charge, but only for a limited time.
Availability and Language Support
The app is now available for download on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Currently, it supports English and Bahasa Malaysia, with Mandarin support coming this September.
A Glimpse into Malaysia's Banking Future
With Ryt Bank stepping into the scene, Malaysia is seeing its first taste of what an AI-first banking experience can look like. Beyond convenience, it signals how AI and digital innovation may reshape financial services for Malaysians in the years to come.
