Google's been busy giving its tools a Gemini-powered upgrade, and the latest to get a little smarter is Gmail. If you're someone who juggles meetings and appointments through your inbox, this one's for you: Gmail is now rolling out a new 'Add to Calendar' button right inside your emails.
Here's how it works. The button will show up at the top of an email—right next to the 'Summarise' option. When you click it, Gemini kicks in and helps you turn that email into a calendar event instantly. It also works inside email threads, so you can catch that "let's meet next week" message and convert it into an actual calendar appointment in just a couple of clicks.
Once you click the button, the Gemini sidebar pops open with all the appointment details filled in. You'll get a chance to double-check everything before saving. If something's off—maybe the wrong time or date—you can hit the edit button and fix it right there in the sidebar.
Basically, it's like creating an appointment the usual way through the Gemini panel, just faster and more direct. One thing to note: if the email already includes built-in calendar info (like flight bookings or event invites), you won't see the button—since those already sync to your calendar automatically without needing AI.
The feature is rolling out starting today, but don't be surprised if you don't see it immediately. It could take up to two weeks to hit everyone's inbox. Also, for now, it's only available in English, on the Gmail web version, and only for those on premium Workspace plans.
So if you're a Workspace subscriber, keep an eye out for it—Gemini's about to make organizing your schedule a whole lot smoother.
