Starting 5 May, applying for a Halal certificate in Malaysia has officially gone paperless. The entire process is now done online, making it easier and faster for businesses to get certified without the usual red tape.

All Applications Now Processed via MYeHALAL

According to Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, Director General of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), the shift to full digitalisation is in response to the growing demand for Halal certification across various industries. Businesses now submit their applications and receive approvals entirely through the MYeHALAL platform.

Once approved, applicants will be issued digital certificates. These can be downloaded and printed out on your own, offering flexibility and convenience.

Want a Physical Certificate? That's Still Possible—With a Request

For those who still prefer a hard copy, JAKIM has made it clear that physical certificates are still available—but only by formal request. Businesses that need one will need to submit a request and pay a processing fee. The printed version is considered a reprint and is charged based on Clause 13 of the Malaysian Halal Certification Procedure Manual (Domestic) 2020.

Why Go Digital? It's About Speed and Efficiency

This digital transformation isn't just about modern tech—it's about improving service delivery and cutting down delays. By taking the process online, JAKIM aims to reduce bureaucratic slowdowns and make certification more accessible to both large corporations and small businesses.

Sirajuddin emphasized that this move is in line with Malaysia Madani values and the government's ongoing efforts to modernize public services. It reflects a broader commitment to transparency, accessibility, and digital innovation in the public sector.

A Big Step Forward for Halal Industry Stakeholders

With the Halal market growing rapidly—both locally and internationally—this upgrade couldn't come at a better time. Digital certification simplifies the process, saves time, and makes it easier for Malaysian businesses to remain competitive in the global Halal economy.
