Google Pay Now Supports TNG eWallet and ShopeePay for Online Purchases in Malaysia

Google has expanded Google Pay functionality in Malaysia by introducing support for Touch 'n Go (TNG) eWallet and ShopeePay for online transactions with selected merchants.

How It Works

Users can now pay at checkout using their TNG eWallet or ShopeePay balance, but only with merchants that use iPay88 or Fiuu as their payment gateway provider.

It's important to note that:

This integration only applies to online purchases.
TNG eWallet and ShopeePay cannot be used for in-store contactless payments via the Google Wallet app.

Supported Merchants (So Far)

Some of the initial participating merchants include:

Nando's and US Pizza via Fiuu

Alpro Pharmacy, TK Bakery, and Yoyo Bus via iPay88

A Google spokesperson mentioned that the merchant list will continue to grow, and users should stay tuned for future updates.

Simple Setup for Seamless Payments

To link TNG eWallet or ShopeePay:

Add your eWallet during checkout with a supported merchant using Google Pay.

Perform a one-time verification via your respective eWallet app.

After verifying, users can complete future payments with one click directly through Google Chrome, without needing to open the eWallet app again.

Additionally, this setup allows users to reload their eWallet balance via Google Pay, and an upcoming update will let users check their eWallet balances right from Google Pay itself.

A Regional First for Google

Google highlighted that this is the first time in Southeast Asia that eWallets are being directly integrated into Google Pay for online transactions, marking a significant step in digital payment innovation for the region.
